ABSTRACT First Person is a series of interviews with the first authors selection papers published in Journal Cell Science, helping early-career researchers promote themselves alongside their papers. Anna Dowbaj co-first author on ‘ An optogenetic method for interrogating YAP1 and TAZ nuclear–cytoplasmic shuttling’, JCS. conducted work described this article while PhD student lab Erik Sahai at Francis Crick Institute, London, UK. She now postdoc Meritxell Huch Max Planck Institute Molecular Biology Genetics (MPI-CBG), Dresden, Germany, investigating role stem cell niche liver regeneration.
